Former congressman and current congressional candidate Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) raised over $600,000 in the final three months of 2011, according to his campaign.
Grayson received contributions from more than 19,000 supporters in the quarter, with an average contribution of less than $32.
“This is what People Power looks like,” said Grayson.
Meanwhile, Democrat Val Demings pulled in just under $240,000 for her campaign in the 4th quarter, putting her well out front of likely opponent and incumbent, U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster, who raised $185,000 for the quarter.
U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, seeking a third term, raised a whopping $1.4 million during the final three months of 2011, his campaign said, the newsserviceflorida.com reports. The Democratic incumbent now has about $8.4 million in the bank.
Nelson awaits the winner of a rather crowded Republican primary with U.S. Rep. Connie Mack creating the biggest buzz to date. Mack raised more than $750,000 in the 4th quarter and has just under $1 million, on hand.
