A man, believed to have sexually battered an elderly woman in the area of Mobilaire Drive, off Sun Vista Way, was arrested in California Wednesday, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said.
Michael Anthony Herrera was arrested by the Oceanside California Police Department and charged with several counts: five counts of sexual battery, burglary of an occupied dwelling, kidnapping, battery and auto theft. It is believed that Herrera was involved in other sexual battery cases.
A statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said, detectives from the OCSO Sex Crime Unit are currently in California, interviewing Herrera and executing search warrants.
Early on Monday morning (August 22), the elderly woman told detectives she awoke around 4:00 a.m. to find an unknown white male inside her residence. Herrera is accused of sexually battering the victim, then fleeing the area in the woman’s vehicle.
