An Orange County man is in serious condition with burns to his upper body, after his 43-year-old son attempted to burn his mattress and pillow early on Tuesday morning.
Deputies arrested Santiago Torres, Jr., 43, charging him with attempted homicide and arson of an occupied dwelling.
Investigators responded to a 911 emergency call around 6:30 a.m., at 7849 Toledo Street, where they discovered 71-year-old Santiago Torres, Sr’s mattress and pillow had been set on fire by his son. The fire had been put out by a family member.
The senior Torres, who is bed-ridden, received burns to his upper body, and was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, in serious condition.
Santiago Torres, Jr., was taken into custody by detectives.
State Fire Marshall’s are conducting a separate investigation.
