Buffett: Taxes On Richest Americans are Still Too Low

Billionaire Warren Buffett continued to complain that taxes on the wealthiest Americans are still too low.

In an interview with Politico, the billionaire investor said there’s still a great number of wealthy people paying low taxes, a lot less than their housekeepers.  He said some of the 400 largest earners in the United States, whose average income was about $200 million a year, pay a tax rate of less than 10 percent.

“That’s still a lot less than my cleaning lady,” Buffett said.

Buffett also said his own tax rate was “certainly not too high.”

Over the last several years, he has repeatedly pointed out his tax rate is lower than that of his secretary. And while it was noted that taxes have increased somewhat on America’s wealthiest, according to Buffett, it has still “not been fully corrected.”
