Bridget Dycus named SCPS 2015 Teacher of the Year

Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) Thursday night named its 2015 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Bridget Dycus of Rock Lake Middle School! As part of this prestigious award, Mrs. Dycus will receive a Teacher of the Year ring from Herff Jones; SCPS Teacher of the Year nametag, nameplate, stationary and business cards; a Mousecar from Walt Disney World Resort – their version of the Oscar and a Disney Annual Pass; and $1,000 from the Foundation for SCPS. Plus, a year’s lease of a 2014 Chevy Cruze courtesy of Carl Black Chevrolet/Buick/GMC. In addition, she will go on to represent Seminole County in the state Teacher of the Year competition.

Dycus has 27 years of teaching experience with 25 of those years teaching at Rock Lake Middle School. She currently teaches 6th Grade Mathematics. Throughout her tenure, she has taught a multitude of course and levels with Mathematics as well as Science and Business Computing. Outside the classroom, she has volunteered as the sponsor for BETA Club, Student Council, Math Counts, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and a teacher for the after school tutorial program. In addition, her community involvement includes being an SCPS Dividend at both Crystal Lake Elementary and Millennium Middle where she was recognized for more than 3,000 hours of service.
