President of the North Brevard chapter of the NAACP was arrested earlier this month, accused of choking his wife because she got a job at Walmart, floridatoday.com reports.
William “Bill” Gary, who was arrested on June 6, is facing felony domestic battery charges with strangulation. Â The altercation took place at his home.
Gary’s attorney, Samuel Bookhardt III, Â disputes the charges, floridatoday also reported.
Gary, who has been president of the north Brevard chapter of the NAACP since 2001, is also president of the Harry T. & Harriette V. Moore Cultural Complex board of directors.
