President of the North Brevard chapter of the NAACP was arrested earlier this month, accused of choking his wife because she got a job at Walmart, floridatoday.com reports.
William “Bill” Gary, who was arrested on June 6, is facing felony domestic battery charges with strangulation. The altercation took place at his home.
Gary’s attorney, Samuel Bookhardt III, disputes the charges, floridatoday also reported.
Gary, who has been president of the north Brevard chapter of the NAACP since 2001, is also president of the Harry T. & Harriette V. Moore Cultural Complex board of directors.
