The 19-year-old who deputies accuse of shooting his girlfriend in the face has now been charged with several counts.
Jervaughn Bonner, who initially reported that he was a “victim” in a drive-by shooting was arrested on Thursday night by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Gang Enforcement Unit. Deputies say, Bonner fired the shot that seriously injured his girlfriend, 18-year-old Shanice Shoemo in the driveway of her home on Frisco Circle around 12:45 am, on Thursday.
Bonner has been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell and deliver with a weapon; possession of cannabis with intent ot sell and deliver with a weapon; possession of cocaine; possession of cannabis under 20 grams; possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony; grand theft of a firearm and perjury.
The initial investigation into Shoemo’s shooting led deputies to believe she had been shot by a drive-by shooter. Bonner had told investigators he was with Shoemo’s when a dark colored, four-door sedan, with dark tinted windows and no headlights drove by and several shots rang out. He said one of the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots using a handgun, striking Shoemo.
Bonner later told investigators he was playing with the gun when it accidentally discharged and he had reported the drive-by shooting to avoid going to jail.
Bonner is in the Orange County Jail on a $90,000 bond.
