Boyfriend of Missing Tampa Bay Police Cadet Arrested in New York

A man whom police have called a person of interest in the case of a missing Tampa Bay police cadet, was arrested in New York on Thursday night.

Kelly L. Rothwell (l) David Perry (r)

47-year-old David Perry was taken into custody by state police in New York and charged with insurance fraud and grand larceny.

Perry, the long time boyfriend of 35-year-old Kelly L. Rothwell, skipped town and headed to New York, shortly after her disappearance.

According to news reports, Perry has not cooperated with detectives in the investigation for Rothwell, nor has given a DNA sample.

Rothwell, the missing police cadet, was last seen on March 12, earlier this year. It is believed that Rothwell was on her way to break up with Perry when she disappeared.  She has not been seen since.

Police have not called Perry a suspect in Rothwell’s disappearance, but they do say he is a person of interest.

Search teams from the Cue Center for Missing Persons arrived in Florida late on Wednesday night to assist in the search for the missing police cadet.
