Boxing Champ was Leaving Hubby for A Woman

Professional boxer Christy Martin, who remains hospitalized after being stabbed and shot by her husband James Martin, was leaving him for a woman, according to documents released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

Christy, who had returned home on November 23rd after being away for two days, had just informed her husband, James, that she was ending their twenty-year marriage to be with a long time friend, Sherry Lusk, when a fight broke out between the couple.  Christy told police that her husband had stabbed her after confronting her with a knife and handgun inside their home.  She was able to get out of the house and flagged down a motorist, Rick Cole, who took her to the Florida Hospital.

Meanwhile, Sherry Lusk, Christy’s partner, told investigators that she was aware that James Martin had threatened to ruin Christy’s career and had said he would call all the professional boxing associates and release incriminating videos of her over Youtube and boxing websites.  Lusk was on the telephone speaking with Christy when she was stabbing and shot by James at the Martin’s home, according to the documents released by the Sheriff’s Office.

James Martin, who had been on the run from police since the incident last week, was captured on Tuesday, November 30, and remains hospitalized for his injuries, including a self-inflicted wound.  Investigators established that J. Martin had been hiding in a shed which is removed from a residence on Foxtree Trail.  Unbeknownst to the resident, J. Martin was using the shed as a hide out, while he was being looked for by the Sheriff’s Office for his crimes.

J. Martin has not yet been charged with attempted murder, as he remains hospitalized.
