His work has paid off with 11 of his students earning a perfect score on the National Financial Capability Challenge. The challenge was created by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Education, based on a recommendation of the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy.

The Council’s goal is to recognize the important work of educators in providing financial capability education to young people at a critical point in their lives. The challenge encourages young people and their parents to increase their knowledge of and involvement in financial topics, so they are better prepared for the future.

A total of 55 Boone High School students taught by Daniel scored in the top 20 percent of those taking the test nationwide. Also, 39 of his 60 students placed in the top 10 percent nationally. The online exam was offered between March 12, 2012 and April 13, 2012. For more on how it works, please go to http://challenge.treas.gov/.
