Boone High School Wins $100K Grant from State Farm

Boone High School – 1000 E. Kaley Street, Orlando

Boone High School in Orlando is the proud winner of a $100,000 grant from State Farm, after taking top honors in an online voting process celebrating teens’ privilege to drive.

Organized by State Farm, tens of thousands of teens across America got together in September for Celebrate My Drive day.

In Orlando, Boone High School’s new drivers met at the Florida Mall on Sept. 15, to hear from law enforcement and safety advocates about positive driving habits and experiences. State Farm organized the Celebrate My Drive® day using an approach of sharing with new drivers how to stay safe, rather than using traditional shocking stories which often scare new drivers.

Boone High School Principal Margaret McMillen says the money will be used to upgrade technology throughout the school.

National Teen Driving Safety Week was celebrated this month. During the week, parents, teens, lawmakers, and educators were encouraged to focus on working together to change risky teen driving behavior and save lives.
