Daniel’s selection as Florida Economic Educator of the Year is based on his involvement with the Florida Council on Economic Education, his leadership, participation in conferences, creativity, and ability to motivate students. Daniel won $1,000.

Wendy Bashinski has taught for 31 years in OCPS. She has spent 26 years at Lockhart Middle School. Bashinski teaches social studies and has placed second in the state in the category of Personal Financial Literacy.

Bashinski created a three-week lesson called, “Piecing Together Your Financial Puzzle.” Seventh-grade students learned what a credit score means and how it affects their lives from getting a job to getting denied the chance to buy a home or open a utility account.
