Usain Bolt, the World’s fastest man, is one of five competing for the title of World Male Athlete-of-the Year.

Bolt, a Jamaican, and the World and Olympic sprint champion, joins Ethiopia’s distance guru, Kenenisa Bekele, American sprint superstar Tyson Gay, Australian pole vaulter Steve Hooker and Norway’s javelin thrower, Andreas Thorkildsen, who are all on the short list.
Bolt broke world records last summer to win the Olympic sprints in Beijing and was named the International Association of Athletics Federations’ (IAAF) male Athlete of the Year in 2008. In 2009, he repeated those accomplishments at the world championships in Berlin.
The winner will be announced during the World Athletics Gala in Monaco on November 22.
