House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Tuesday showed little concern for federal job losses that could result from GOP’s proposed spending cuts.
Boehner incorrectly said the federal government had added 200,000 new jobs over the past two years.
“In the last two years, under President Obama, the federal government has added 200,000 new federal jobs. If some of those jobs are lost so be it. We’re broke,” Boehner told reporters.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 58,000 new federal jobs have been created over the past two years, a far cry from the 200,000 Boehner stated.
Republicans have proposed a raft of budget cuts totaling $32 billion to a multitude of federal programs.
Presumably, now that Boehner has his job as House Speaker, he doesn’t much care about Americans that might lose theirs on account of the GOP’s spending cuts.
