Superintendent Ronald Blocker is the recipient of the inaugural FAME 2011 Administrator Advocacy Award.
Blocker was chosen for his leadership and significant contributions to the promotion of effective school library programs and services. With Superintendent Blocker’s guidance, media specialists now play a critical role in facilitating learning in every school. The media specialists and teachers are educational partners aligning the district’s library program with goals for the entire school.
Superintendent Blocker puts emphasis on keeping certified library media specialists in the schools, maintaining quality and current book collections, advancing technology skills, and managing continuous access to resources. Mr. Blocker has campaigned to make sure all school media centers offer a learning-centered space supported by a strong technological infrastructure.
Mr. Blocker will be recognized for this award during the FAME conference on October 7, 2011 at the Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando. Library media specialists from across the state will be in attendance.
