Students from Boone High School will be teaching students at Blankner K-8 School a few things about financial literacy. It’s a first-of-its-kind program in Orange County Public Schools.
The district is the sub-recipient of a State Farm Youth Advisory Board grant awarded to the Florida Prosperity Partnership to support the youth financial literacy project.
A stand-alone course, entitled SAVES – Students Achieving Viable Economic Stability, will be taught to 20 middle-school students at Blankner K-8 School by Boone High School students.
The program will result in an online digital learning platform that includes a website and teaching videos shot and posted by the students. These end products will serve as a self-study course for future middle-school students and an online tutorial for high-school students who teach the course in subsequent years.
