Troopers are investigating a crash on Lake Pickett and Chuluota Roads in Orange County, which left a man dead on Friday morning.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said that a 2004 Kia SUV driven by Ginger Otvos, 35, of Chuluota was heading eastbound on Lake Pickett Road around 1:48 am on Friday.
A 1990 Chevy pick-up truck was disabled on Lake Pickett Road near Chuluota Road, partially in the eastbound lane, with James D. Hubbard, 54, of Bithlo, near the truck. Hubbard was attempting to work on the vehicle. Troopers said there were no lights or flashers on and no warning devices displayed.
Otvos’ SUV struck the left rear of the pick-up truck and Hubbard. Otvos told troopers that she did not see the pick-up truck or Hubbard.
Hubbard was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Hospital where he died of his injuries. It is not clear if alcohol played a role.
Otvos sustained no injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
