Billionaire David Siegel, owner of Westgate Resorts, has purchased the Orlando Predators Arena football team.
Under Siegel’s ownership, the Predators will return to the Amway Center for the 2015 season.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer lauded Siegel’s vision and his acquisition of the team saying, “this is exciting news for our city and comes at a time when Orlando is undergoing a very significant transformation as a sports destination.”
“It is also great to see the Predators return to the Amway Center… and they will be even more fun to watch going forward,” he added.
For his part, Siegel noted that his purchase of the Predators and their return to the Amway Center was “motivated by the opportunity to grant an already storied franchise the exposure and attention it deserves in a world-class venue.”
Siegel created a good deal of controversy when, prior to the November 4, 2012 election, he warned his 7,000 employees of Westgate Resorts, in an email that, they could lose their jobs if they re-elected President Obama. He later reversed himself claiming that his email was taken out of context.
