Biden Presidential Pardons for Possession Still Unavailable

According to activists, the Department of Justice pardon website indicates that the applications to obtain a marijuana-specific pardon certificate are still unavailable even though President Joe Biden promised them more than three months ago.

There is an online petition to the Department of Justice to deliver the pardon certificates “without any further delays.”

It reminds the Democratic administration that many of the people who are eligible for these pardons have been waiting years for relief and they shouldn’t have to wait any longer since the President made his announcement so long ago.

“The President announced the issuance of marijuana-specific pardons on October 6, 2022 as part of a widely supported set of actions recognizing the folly of federal cannabis prohibition,” the online petition from NORML states. “Thousands of people with federal criminal records for simple marijuana possession are eligible for a pardon that would help them obtain employment, housing, education, and more.”

Hopefully, President Biden wasn’t playing politics making a premature announcement on this issue.
