Democratic President Joe Biden and former Republican President Donald Trump are both bragging about their presidential fundraising totals.
The Trump campaign said it raised more than the incumbent Democrat with $331 million in the second quarter. The Biden campaign announced it raised $264 million in the second quarter.
But the Biden campaign added that they pulled in $127 million in the month of June alone – the campaign’s best month of the cycle and outraising Donald Trump’s campaign for the month. Trump’s campaign reportedly raised $111.8 million in June.
At the end of the second quarter, Donald Trump leads with $284.9 million cash on hand compared with Joe Biden’s $240 million cash on hand. The Republican’s campaign stated that Trump’s campaign fundraising operation is “thriving day after day and month after month.”
The Democratic campaign also believes fundraising signals momentum. June’s $127 million haul was not just Biden-Harris’ best month overall, it was the strongest grassroots month to-date. Nearly two-thirds of June’s raise came from grassroots donors, and of the $38 million raised following the debate, more than $30 million came from grassroots donations. Since launch, more than 2.5 million Americans have contributed to Biden-Harris, more than 1.1 million of them are brand new donors according to the campaign.
