Bicyclist Killed After Being Run Over by Van in Orange County

A bicyclist was run over and killed on Wednesday night in Orange County, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 10:40 p..m, on Edgewater Drive near Arthur Avenue.

Troopers say, Daniel Obrien, 22, of Orlando, was heading north on Edgewater Drive behind Dean Lindstrom, Jr., 47, who was on his bicycle.

For an unknown reason, Obrien didn’t see Lindstrom and ran into him from the back. Lindstrom who fell from his bicycle was run over by the Ford Van Obrien was driving.  He was pronounced dead at Florida Hospital South.

Troopers say, tests are being done to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash; charges are pending against Obrien, who was not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.
