Today is the kick-off for the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. The Big Red Bus will be in front of the Orlando Police Headquarters today from 10am until 4pm. This is a blood donation competition between police and sheriffs agencies in central Florida throughout the month of August.
Florida Blood Centers is spearheading this life saving event.
The Battle of the Badges will run from August 3 through August 31, 2009 and is a competition between sheriff and police agencies in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties.
Anyone can donate blood during these dates at any Florida Blood Center location or at any Big Red Bus. Employees, their family and friends are invited to participate and tell the blood center that they are donating for their agency, which we hope they choose to do on behalf of the Orlando Police Department. The battle will be updated during the month and tracked at floridabloodcenters.org/badgebattle. At the end of this month long battle, donations will be totaled and the winner declared. The winner will receive a trophy and recognized. We hope that everyone will come and enjoy a little friendly competition and help save some live at the same time.
