A man, barricaded inside a home in south Orange County, was found dead following an exchange of gunfire with deputies.
The shoot out happened in the 5300 block of Hawford Circle near the intersection of Conway Road and Hoffner Avenue, just before 10:30 a.m..
Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said, a narcotics team had gone to the home to undertake an undercover assignment, when the standoff occurred, according to news reports.
Narcotics agents, assigned to the parcel interdiction team, were engaged in conducting a controlled delivery of a package which contained cannabis.
Authorities said, a person, later identified as Harrison Carter, 29, attempted to retrieve the package and was approached by deputies conducted the follow-up investigation.
Carter pointed a firearm at the deputies and one agent opened fire.
Carter fired several rounds before going into the home and barricaded himself, authorities also said. He was found dead inside the home.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will conduct the deputy involved shooting investigation and the OCSO Professional Standards section will conduct an administrative review.
