Barricaded Man Charged with False Imprisonment, Assault

A 21-year-old man who barricaded himself inside a home on Orange County’s east side and held several family members against their will, has been charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault.

Orange County deputies say, Louis Raphael, 21 years, held his mother, brother, girlfriend and two cousins inside a residence in the 1000 block on Billingshurst Court near South Chickasaw Trail, for several hours.

Deputies were first alerted to the situation when Raphael’s 16-year-old brother called around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning to say, a number of family members were being held inside the residence and that Louis had a firearm and possibly other weapons.

After several hours of negotiations, the situation ended peacefully around 9:00 a.m., and all were brought out safely from the residence.

Deputies said, Raphael is being charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault. Deputies also said, he was treated for cuts and scrapes on his arm by the Fire Department at the scene.

It is unclear what occasioned the imprisonment of the family members for several hours, investigators said.
