One of the biggest burglaries was pulled off in Orlando over the week-end.
Orlando Police are trying to determined who burglarized Quality One Wireless on 1500 Tradeport Drive, making off with approximately $10 million worth of merchandise. This is not the first time that the business has been burglarized.
The bandits gained access to Quality One Wireless through the roof of an adjoining vacant building and then by boring a hole in the interior wall to gain access. A similar method was used in a robbery of the business in July 2008.
Police say, the suspect (s) last week-end removed eight skylight of the adjoining vacant building and used a ladder to gain entry into the crawl space. A hole in the interior wall from the vacant warehouse through to Quality One Wireless was made by the bandits. Several security cameras were repositioned or broken, police said.
The robbers used forklifts, a United Parcel Service Trailer and two additional semi-trailers to remove numerous items from inside the warehouse. The suspect(s) exited the building removing the trailers and property in an unknown direction, detectives said.
In the July 2008 robbery, again, the suspect(s) gained entry through an adjoining business, Tradeshow Decorators International, located at 1500 Tradeport Drive #B, on the east side of the building. On that occasion, a circular saw was used to cut a square in the south rear roll up door of the business at Tradeshow Decorators International. Similarly, a hole was cut between adjoining walls to both businesses. During this robbery cell phones valued at over $200,000 were stolen. It is believed the suspect(s) was familiar with the layout of the warehouse, based on where the hole was made in the wall.
Quality One Wireless was also robbed in July 2007, when cell phones and other merchandise to the tune of $700,000 were stolen. On this occasion, the thieves used a blow torch to bore a hole in the bay door.
Robbers attempted to burglarize the building in October 2008, but a blow torch used on a rear corner bay door, failed on that occasion.
Police are looking at the similarities between the July 2008 robbery and the one last week-end.
It is not clear yet whether the heist last week-end was an inside job.
