I guess Tiger Woods will have to wait on his sixth victory in his last 20 starts as bad weather has delayed the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.
Woods and paired partner Rickey Fowler were on the green of the second hole when the weather horn sounded alerting everyone that treacherous conditions were approaching.
The gray clouds above and wind waves in the grass should have given it away that something ominous was approaching, but as fans started to line the second hole, not many were concerned with the weather as they watched Tiger’s signature red polo stalk the Arnold Palmer Greens.
Woods nailed a short birdie putt to push his score to 12-under par for the fourth and final round right before the skies opened.
Before Woods and Fowler teed off, Bill Haas and Justin Rose walked the fairways to try to chase Woods’ score down. Things didn’t start so well for Haas. He bogeyed the first hole and parred the second one. He’s two over through four holes.
Rose’s fortunes seemed to be going a little better. He’s one over for his round, but still just three shots behind Woods.
As of the time that this was published, play was still just suspended until the rain passes. Yet given the look of the clouds, sound of the rain and veracity of the wind, I can bet my rained soaked socks that we have watched our last golf ball zip through the moist Orlando air on this Sunday afternoon.
Not to mention the media tent where golf’s finest writers, photographers and personalities are being housed is a rocking wind tunnel. About 15 minutes post play suspension, all were evacuated to the Bay Hill clubhouse because the roll away tent was too dangerous to occupy.
Kind of great day to be on a golf course I guess.
