New court documents reveal Orlando City Commissioner Sam Ings is in more trouble than was exposed during his re-election battle with Lawanna Gelzer in April. Before Election Day, Solethea Sparkes claimed she had a 7-year relationship with Ings and that the Orlando Commissioner was the father of her child. Ings has refused to pay anything to the mother despite two paternity tests now confirming Ings is the father, according to court documents.
Ings will have to pay nearly $20,000 in back payments for child support and will owe Sparkes $262 every week. This news comes just weeks after voters re-elected Commissioner Ings in Orlando’s 6th District.
Throughout the campaign and media reports, Ings denied being the father and refused to support his child. Ings demanded a second paternity test and those results led the court to issue the conclusive ruling. The commissioner is also newly married to another woman.
