$1.15 Million Check for Breast Cancer Research Presented at 2016 Cure Bowl

AutoNation, America’s largest automotive retailer, announced that Cheryl Miller, the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer along with Alice Jackson and Kinga Lampert, BCRF Board Members, as well as Jeff Lagos and Alan Gooch, representatives of the Orlando Sports Foundation, presented a check for $1.15 million to Myra Biblowit, President of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) at the 2016 AutoNation Cure Bowl at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

The AutoNation Cure Bowl is to benefit BCRF, this year’s largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world. BCRF is also the highest rated breast cancer organization in the U.S. with an A+ rating from Charity Watch and the top four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

Over three years ago, AutoNation committed its charitable resources towards cancer research, early detection and prevention.  Since then, we’ve raised and donated millions of dollars, including a total commitment of over $2,000,000 to BCRF since the first AutoNation Cure Bowl, to invest in the world’s most promising research.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) is dedicated to being the end of breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF-funded investigators have been deeply involved in every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. By committing 91 cents of every dollar directly to its mission, BCRF is one of the nation’s most fiscally responsible nonprofits and the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide.

The AutoNation Cure Bowl’s goal, presented by Florida Hospital, hopes to bring teams together to find a cure for cancer.  This goal became a reality in 2015 when the organization and AutoNation, its title sponsor, presented a record breaking $1.15 million to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at the inaugural bowl game.  This donation is the highest amount given in the history of college football bowls from a single bowl to its cancer research foundation charity partner.  This year’s game was played December 17th at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.

Through its Drive Pink initiative, AutoNation is committed to drive out cancer, create awareness and support critical research. AutoNation continues to be a proud supporter of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and other cancer-related charities.
