Volusia County authorities say, an elderly couple found dead inside an Ormond Beach home, died as a result of a murder-suicide.
Investigators say, 73-year-old James Ryals shot his wife, Joyce Ryals, 74, then turned the gun on himself.
The couple’s bodies were discovered late Tuesday night, after investigators went to the home on Woodhaven Circle to conduct a well-being check. Authorities said a concerned relative in New Jersey had called saying she hadn’t been able to contact them.
Deputies arrived at the home around 11:45 p.m., on Tuesday.
According to news reports, a note was found at the couple’s home on Woodhaven Circle.
The Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office will begin conducting autopsies today.
