A woman who showed up armed and naked at a private gathering in Spring Hill, Florida, was shot dead by two off-duty police officers, authorities said.
The woman, identified as 42-year-old Inga Marie Swanson, walked up to the house on Orchard Way in Spring Hill on Saturday, around 1:45 p.m. She appeared disturbed and was naked, Hernando County deputies also said.
Swanson was asked to leave the area by two off-duty officers at the gathering and did so, but later returned with a weapon. That’s when the officers opened fire killing her on the spot.
The officers have been identified as, 31-year-old Detective Rocky Howard, a 6-year veteran of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and 26-year-old William Mechler, a police officer with the Tampa Police Department for four years.
Both Howard and Mechler have been placed on administrative leave, as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Hernando County Sheriff’s Office investigate the fatal shooting of Swanson.
