Attorney Found Guilty of Trying to Murder Wife

Edgar Steele

A North Idaho attorney and anti-Semitic icon was found guilty of attempting to hire a hit-man to murder his wife and her mother.

Federal authorities accused 65-year-old Edgar Steele of trying to hire his former handyman to plant bombs in a plot to kill Steele’s wife, Cyndi and her mother who live in Oregon.

Law enforcement officers said, Steele wanted his wife killed so he could collect insurance money and continue to pursue an online relationship with a 25-year-old Ukrainian woman.

After a one-week trial, and 8 hours of deliberation, the 12-member jury–11 women and one man–returned a guilty verdict.

Steele faces up to a maximum of 30 years in prison.
