At Rooney’s OPD, Crime is Down If You Don’t Count Burglary, Larceny, Theft, Shoplifting or Vandalism

cuffsfinalCrime is down slightly in Orlando, if you don’t consider property crime, according to new statistics released by the Orlando Police Department Wednesday.

In 2013, overall crime dropped by a mere 0.5% compared with 2012.  And property crimes, which include burglary, larceny, theft, motor vehicle theft, shopping lifting and vandalism, have risen.

OPD Chief Paul Rooney said, a number of initiatives would be launched in 2014, including the testing of body cameras on officers, to help reduce crime further.
