Ashton Appoints Burdick as Chief Assistant State Attorney

Linda Drane Burdick

Newly elected Orange-Osceola County State Attorney Jeff Ashton announced Wednesday, he has asked Linda Drane Burdick to serve as his Chief Assistant State Attorney.

In making the announcement, Ashton said that, Burdick has earned his “complete and unconditional trust” and they share a common philosophy.

When I considered these factors, my choice was clear,” Ashton said of his appointment of Burdick.

At a news conference earlier today to announce the Burdick appointment, Ashton said that additional members of his leadership team will be made in the coming weeks.

Earlier this month, Ashton, in an open primary race, easily beat his former boss, Lawson Lamar who has served as the Orange-Osceola County State Attorney for 24 years.

Ashton will take up his new position on January 8, 2013.
