Ashley Moody Becomes Florida’s New U.S. Senator

Republican Ashley Moody officially became Florida’s new U.S. Senator, replacing Marco Rubio.




Ashley Moody was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis as a Republican to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Marco Rubio for the term ending January 3, 2029. She took the oath of office on January 21, 2025.

Senator Moody said she stands for conservative principles, and is proud of her strong record of combatting illegal immigration. She supports the men and women of law enforcement. Sen. Moody said she is ready to deliver on the Trump mandate, saying she previously defended President Donald Trump from weaponized lawfare and she led the investigation into the Florida assassination attempt.

I look forward to working closely with her to make Washington work better for Florida families and deliver on President Trump’s mandate for the American people.”




According to her U.S. Senate page, Senator Ashley Moody was born in Plant City, Florida and graduated from Plant City High School, before graduating from the University of Florida and the University of Florida College of Law, as well as Stetson University College of Law. She worked as a lawyer, adjunct professor, assistant United States attorney for the Middle District of Florida in Hillsborough County, circuit court judge, and Attorney General of Florida.

A fifth-generation Floridian, she has served the people of Florida honorably as a prosecutor, judge, and Attorney General before becoming U.S. Senator.
