A 24-year-old man was arrested following a shooting outside of Central Florida high school and faces attempted murder charges.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who fired a gun at students near a high school in Riverview, near Tampa.
On February 14, 2024, at 4pm, 24-year-old Jahfahree Edwards was seen on surveillance footage firing a gun at students after a fight had broken out down the street from Spoto High School.
After a thorough investigation, HCSO detectives located Edwards on February 29th, staying with a family member in the 13000 block of Flame Wood Court in Tampa.
According to law enforcement, he was taken into custody without incident and is facing the following charges:
- Attempted Murder in the Second Degree Firearm x4
- Aggravated Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony with a Weapon x4
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Throwing a Deadly Missile within or into a Vehicle
“I stand relieved knowing that this violent criminal is no longer a threat to our community,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, “While we’re grateful that no one fell victim to his actions, let this serve as a reminder that there’s no refuge for those who choose to cause chaos. Committing crimes like this will not go unpunished.”
This is an ongoing investigation, according to local law enforcement.
