Sanford police, conducting a traffic stop on Saturday night, turned up an armed cocaine trafficker.
Charlie Canada, Jr., 52, of Sanford, was arrested and charged with armed cocaine trafficking and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.
Canada failed to stop at the stop sign at Santa Barbara Drive and Georgia Avenue around 8:00 p.m., and was pulled over by police.
In the vehicle was a purple Crown Royal bag, commonly used to store and conceal narcotics and a total of 56 grams of crack cocaine and powdered cocaine. Police also found a 9mm semi-automatic pistol under the driver’s seat and $643 in cash.
The firearm in Canada’s possession was reported stolen out of Orange County.
Canada was taken into custody and booked into the Seminole County Jail.
