U.S. Rep. Trey Radel, a Florida congressman, who pleaded guilty to cocaine-possession charges late last year, will return to Congress today.
Radel, a Republican, who represents Florida’s 19th Congressional District, has resisted calls from GOP leaders, to resign. He says, he is looking forward to representing the people of the district, after taking a leave of absence and entering a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center for treatment.
Radel, 37, was arrested on Oct. 29 after he was caught trying to buy cocaine from an undercover officer. He admitted to purchasing 3.5 grams of cocaine and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of cocaine possession. He was sentenced to a year of probation.
The House Ethics Committee is investigating his conduct, the AP reports.
