Orlando Police detectives said a man was shot by one of his peers in a downtown Orlando Hotel, following a physical altercation early on Sunday morning. The victim was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to Orlando Police Department detectives:
At approximately 4:00 AM, patrol responded to the Downtown Orlando Marriot Hotel at 400 W Livingston in reference a suspicious incident. When they arrived they found the victim, Christopher Gomez, 20, a white male, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Gomez was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The investigation revealed that Gomez and several other friends came to Orlando to celebrate the birthday of a member of their group. They returned to Hotel following their outing where Gomez and another member of the group, James Brandon Combee Jr., 19 years, got into a physical altercation. During the altercation, Gomez was shot. Combee fled the scene on foot and is at large.
Combee currently has a warrant for his arrest and is wanted for First Degree Murder.
