Anna Eskamani officially kicked off her nearly three-year campaign for Mayor of Orlando.
The Orlando Democrat did announce her run in December when she filed paperwork with the city, but at the official kick off even this week she continued building excitement around the idea of replacing longtime Mayor Buddy Dyer.
“This is only the beginning,” said Anna V. Eskamani. “Together, we’re going to bring bold and fresh leadership to City Hall. Thank you for standing with me—let’s keep building this movement!”
At The Beacham in downtown Orlando, Eskamani reported nearly 700 supporters showed up to officially kick off the campaign. She was also able to raise over $82,000 at the event, as fundraising has never been a problem for the progressive politician.
Democratic Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost, State Rep. LaVon Bracy Davis, State Rep. Johanna López, State Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith, Andrea Montanez, Echo King, and Anna’s AP Government teacher, Mr. Norris, all spoke at the campaign event. There were even amazing performers from The Renaissance Theatre and WAH LUM Temple’s Lion Dance.
“This campaign isn’t just about me—it’s about us,” said Anna V. Eskamani, who is currently a State Representative. “It’s about fighting for a city that puts people first. Your support reminds me why I’m in this fight: to lead with courage, compassion, and a commitment to every Orlandoan, not just the well-connected.”
In her first campaign video, Eskamani focused on neighborhoods and local diversity. She wants to revitalize downtown, lift people from poverty and ensure every neighborhood is safe. Early in the campaign to replace Buddy Dyer in 2027, Eskamani is already touching on key issues to the community, but issues the incumbent mayor would rather not be discussed.
