A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Davenport on Monday afternoon, Polk County deputies said.
The conductor of the Maimi-bound train observed a white male walking on the tracks around 2:00 p.m. The man was walking southbound.
Deputies say, the conductor repeatedly blew the horn while applying brakes, but was unable to avoid hitting the man, who died on the scene.
The train was stopped on the tracks for several hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
