The American Heart Association will recognize individuals who have made positive changes to improve their quality of life and health. The association is encouraging local companies to nominate employees and families to nominate loved ones for a Lifestyle Change Award.
The American Heart Association’s Lifestyle Change Award, sponsored by AvMed, is presented annually at the Greater Orlando Heart Walk to a deserving individual who has made significant strides in their life to become healthier. Whether they have lost weight, started to eat better, improved their cholesterol through exercise and diet, or a combination of these things and more, the Lifestyle Change Award recipient is chosen to inspire others to also improve their health. No change is too small, and every accomplishment is significant!
Heart disease and stroke remain the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of Americans, although largely preventable. Proper lifestyle choices including a healthy diet, regular exercise and abstinence from smoking are the best weapons to fight cardiovascular disease.
To submit a nomination for the Lifestyle Change Award, download a nomination form at GreaterOrlandoHeartWalk.org or call (407) 481-6304 by September 5th. All applicants will be celebrated and one individual will be honored as the Lifestyle Change Ambassador at the Greater Orlando Heart Walk on Saturday, September 17th at Loch Haven Park at 7 a.m.
