Orlando Police have closed the case on an investigation into allegations that an Edgewater High School teacher had a possible sexual relationship with students at the school. Police said on Thursday that no charges have been filed against Amber Elery, the accused teacher.
An investigation was initiated by the OPD after the School Resource Officer at Edgewater High School was notified on November 11, of a possible inappropriate relationship between a teacher, Amber Elery, 28, and a student. Police said further investigation of the case was assigned to a sex crime detective.
During the investigation, the student denied any inappropriate behavior by Ms. Elery and the allegations were determined to be rumors, which came to the attention of another teacher at the school. Based on the lack of disclosure by the student and in the absence of any sworn testimony or physical evidence that a crime occurred, investigators have closed the case against Amber Elery.
Police said that other rumors regarding the possibility of inappropriate behavior between Ms. Elery and two other students were also dispelled during the investigation.
No charges have been filed against Ms. Elery by the police.
