Again: 13-Year-old Girl Attacked on Orlando Bike Trail

This time it’s not Cady Way Trail but Willie Mays Parkway. Orlando police say, a 13-year-old girl was the subject of an attempted sexual battery as she walked along a bike trail near Willie Mays Parkway on Friday.

Antoan Singleton – suspect

The teen was attacked near the 2400 block of Willie Mays Parkway by a man who attempted to sexually batter her.

Police said, the 13-year-old resisted the man’s efforts and he fled the area. A witness told police he saw the man, later identified as 20-year-old Antoan Singleton, running from the scene and taking a bus out of the area.

Singleton returned to the same neighborhood on Saturday and was placed under arrest by responding officers. He was picked out of a photo lineup by the 13-year-old victim.

Singleton was booked into the Orange County Jail just after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday on an $8,000 bond. He was charged with several counts, including attempted sexual battery, false imprisonment and lewd and lascivious conduct.

Friday’s attack near Willie Mays Parkway follows the double murders of two teenagers near Cady Way Trail.

On April 15, the burning bodies of two teens, 16-year-old Nicholas Presha and 18-year-old Jeremy Stewart were found in a desolate area near Cady Way Trail, leading some to ask where Orlando’s bike trails are becoming unsafe.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies have not yet publicly named a suspect or suspects in the Cady Way Trail double murders.  But Jesse Davis has been named a person of interest in the case, according to news reports.

The Sheriff’s Office issued a statement ten days ago indicating that the investigation was progressing well, suggesting that an arrest was imminent.
