Late-Night Crash at Raymond James Concert Injured Tampa Police Officer

A serious late-night crash following a Zach Bryan concert at Raymond James injured an officer with the Tampa Police Department.

The Tampa Police Sergeant is recovering in the hospital following injuries in the serious crash.

On March 15, 2026 just after midnight, a Tampa Police Sergeant, who was working a traffic post following the Zach Bryan concert at Raymond James, was struck by a vehicle.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the 44-year-old male driver of a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire was traveling eastbound on W Martin Luther King Dr. just past N Himes Ave. in Tampa, when his vehicle suddenly left the center traffic lane and entered the outside lane.

The sergeant, who was directing traffic and wearing a reflective traffic vest, lawfully entered the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle who failed to stop, according to the Tampa Police Department.

As a result of the Central Florida crash, the officer was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. As of this morning, he was listed as stable and is in good spirits.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was cited for Careless Driving Causing Serious Bodily Injury, according to local law enforcement.

“I’m incredibly grateful and relieved to know that one of our officers is ok after an incident that could’ve been deadly,” said Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw. “It serves as a stark reminder that even in some of the most routine tasks, our officers risk their lives to keep our community, and in this case concert-goers, safe.”

Speed or impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash.
