AARP Grant Brings Solar-Powered Shade to Prince Hall Park

The City of Orlando is celebrating a new way to stay connected thanks to a grant from AARP, as Prince Hall Park got a new addition designed to make the park a better place to gather. A solar-powered, shaded table with Wi-Fi and charging stations supports the city’s efforts to provide all residents with access to not only unique amenities, but also connectivity. The table is also ADA accessible.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioner Bakari Burns, and Orlando Police Department Chief Orlando Rolón joined residents and members of the Livability and Healthy Aging Committee to celebrate the park’s newest amenity, which also includes artwork from artist German Lemus.

The first two “Tables of Connection” are in Prince Hall and Willows Park. They’re also designed to help residents who might not have internet access to stay connected, according to the mayor.
