Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW), Central Florida’s most comprehensive health and human services agency, recently appointed Malcolm Barnes of Progress Energy and Dr. Ronald Piccolo of Rollins College to its board of directors.
Barnes is a 20-year employee of Progress Energy, where he currently serves as manager for the residential operations team. In addition to the HFUW board, Barnes is serving his second term as president for the American Association of Blacks in Energy, a statewide industry organization focused on providing scholarships and mentoring to college students pursuing STEM related disciplines.
Piccolo is an associate professor of Management and Academic Director of the Center for Leadership Development in the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. He teaches graduate-level courses in leadership, organizational behavior and management strategy. Piccolo’s consulting experience includes leadership development, strategic planning and board development for many Central Florida organizations.
“We are fortunate to have such tremendous strength and dedication from our board of directors, and I’m confident that Ron and Malcolm will also be integral to our organization’s growth,” said Robert H. (Bob) Brown. “We look forward to their insight and direction as HFUW aims to address vital needs in our community.”
It always amazes me that they put good Republicans like these guys on the United Way Board to rattle the cup for funds to take care of the people suffering from the spending cuts their Party just imposed. They give time, but sure do not want to be taxed.
