Looking directly into the eyes of Orlando voters, Mayor Buddy Dyer promised months ago in numerous mayoral debates, interviews and public statements that he would serve a full term if re-elected back on April 3rd. At the DNC Convention, he admitted he would run for Governor.
Now with the Election over, rumors are swirling around a deal that could take Dyer out of the race for Governor, paving the way for former Gov. Charlie Crist to run again, this time as a Democrat. And there is word that Dyer’s name is being floated for different Cabinet posts, including possibly, Secretary of Transportation.
This would break Dyer’s pledge to the voters of Orlando and prove that his higher ambition was always the most important factor. There is no current response from the Mayor’s office regarding Buddy Dyer’s bold-faced lie.
This will surely shake up local Orlando politics early in 2013, just one year after Orlando’s local elections were supposed to provide 4-year leadership.
