A Verizon Wireless store employee was arrested today, after police say he stole personal pictures, include lewd photos, from a customer’s phone.
28-year-old Gregory Lampert, of Brandon, Florida, was taken into custody Wednesday, after police executed a search warrant on the Verizon Wireless Store at 110 E. Van Fleet Drive in Bartow.
Lampert is accused of stealing photos from the phone of a female who had gone to the Verizon store to purchase a new phone last month.
Police say, it all began when another Verizon associate, 24-year-old Joshua Stuart, of Riverview, Florida, offered to transfer the woman’s data from her old phone to her new phone. During the transfer, Stuart illegally obtained personal pictures from the victim’s phone, keeping a copy for himself.
Stuart then shared the data with associate Lampert. Police also say, Stuart with the assistance of Lampert showed the images to a customer who recognized the victim. He in turn contacted the woman to alert her that the associates of the Verizon store possessed and were sharing personal images of her.
Detectives, with the assistance of the State Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant on the Verizon store.
Several images of the victim were recovered from Lampert’s phone and personal computer. He was arrested at the scene.
Stuart was not present at the store. Investigators say, they will be requesting a warrant for his arrest.
Stuart and Lampert have been charged with several crimes, including dealing in stolen property, offenses against computer users, theft and prohibited acts regarding lewd materials.
