Deputies Search for Killer of Restaurant Employee on Orange County’s West Side

A restaurant worker died after a gunman shot her in the head during an armed robbery on Orange County’s west side, deputies say.

The masked suspect entered the China Wok restaurant on 2702 Silver Star Road just before 8:30 p.m., Wednesday night and demanded cash from one of the workers. When the worker, who didn’t speak English very well, failed to comprehend the gunman’s demands, she was shot in the head. The gunman also demanded money from a second worker, whom he pistol whipped.

The unnamed restaurant employee, who was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center and is in extremely critical condition, later died of her injuries. The second victim sustained minor injuries.

Several witnesses in the restaurant at the time of the shooting described the suspect as a black male, about 5′ 9” – 5′ 10” tall, thin to medium build, wearing a black hat, long-sleeved white shirt with horizontal stripes and a black ski mask.

Deputies searched the area with K-9 units and a Chase helicopter, but it is not clear whether the suspect has been apprehended.

Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to call Crimeline at # 1-800-423-TIPS.
